SAC-NP Advanced Diploma in Accountancy
The SAC-NP Advanced Diploma in Accountancy is an 18-month work-study programme tailored for polytechnic graduates who hold a Diploma in Accountancy (or equivalent) from the four local polytechnics. The aim of the programme is to deepen the technical knowledge and skills required by the accountancy profession. Candidates who enrol into the course will take the same centralised examinations for the Singapore CA Qualification (Foundation) conducted by SAC. These Candidates must also be working full-time with an Accredited Training Organisation1 (ATO) and accumulate 180 hours of supervised industry practicum within a minimum period of 18 months.
Graduates from the Advanced Diploma in Accountancy will be specialists in the domains of accounting, auditing and taxation. Through this work-study programme, they will acquire and manifest the requisite professional knowledge and skills to perform effectively in their current job roles. These graduates may also look forward to career progression to mid-level job positions and better job prospects within the accountancy sector.
Graduates from the Advanced Diploma in Accountancy may progress to the Singapore CA Qualification to attain the Chartered Accountant of Singapore designation.
SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme for Accountancy
To support the national SkillsFuture initiative, the Singapore Accountancy Commission (SAC), Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) and the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) will be launching the SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme for Accountancy in August 2016. Candidates under the programme will embark on the SAC-NP Advanced Diploma in Accountancy, which provides an alternate pathway for diploma holders in Accountancy to attain the Chartered Accountant of Singapore designation via the Singapore CA Qualification (formerly known as Singapore QP). The programme also offers candidates a faster route for entry into the Singapore CA Qualification as compared to the Private Degree route.
You will qualify for this course if you hold one of the following qualifications:
a) Diploma in Accountancy & Finance from Nanyang Polytechnic;
b) Diploma in Accountancy from Ngee Ann Polytechnic;
c) Diploma in Accountancy from Singapore Polytechnic; and
d) Diploma in Accounting & Finance from Temasek Polytechnic.
* Candidates from (a) to (d) may be eligible for the SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme for Accountancy.
The SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme is designed in collaboration with industry to ensure relevance to employers. Applicants will:
- Be matched to suitable employers related to their discipline of study, thus allowing them to deepen the skills acquired in school, through workplace learning and mentorship;
- Undergo structured on-the-job training and mentorship, leading to industry-recognised certification;
- Be assigned a mentor and be supported in continual skills development in accordance with their employer’s talent development plan; and
- Have a well-structured career development pathway.
All applicants must be a local (Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident) fresh polytechnic graduate from one of the above four polytechnics and meet the minimum entry requirements of the Advanced Diploma in Accountancy. There is also a requirement to be employed full-time by participating employers that are ATOs under the Singapore CA Qualification.
Fresh polytechnic graduates are defined as individuals who are hired by a participating employer within 12 months after their graduation from the polytechnic (graduation date as stated on the Diploma certificate). For male applicants who need to serve National Service, the 12-month period will start from their operationally-ready date (ORD).
Polytechnic graduates who have been working since graduation for a few years and already hired by an ATO may also be eligible for the SAC-NP Advanced Diploma in Accountancy. However, they will not be eligible for the SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme for Accountancy as they are not considered to be fresh graduates. ATOs will also need to provide suitable career progression pathways for these non-fresh Polytechnic graduates if they wish their employees to undertake the SAC-NP Advanced Diploma in Accountancy.
